Life’s Little Blessings…

Yesterday I had the opportunity to hang out with my grandson Joey.  Joey is a completely different animal than most three-year-olds.  He has siblings that are older and he learns a lot from them.  We were waiting in the car on his mom yesterday and he got the biggest kick out of my automatic seats.  He squealed with laughter as I put my seat all the way back and nearly landed in his lap.  He asked me only once where his mom was and immediately accepted my answer.

Later when our errands were complete we headed over to a chicken place for dinner.  He was reading the letters on all the packages, but wouldn’t read them for the camera.  He stated one letter, then yelled “Ribbit” meaning he is a Frog.  He uses the Frog noise when he is uncomfortable with people paying attention to him.  He counted his nuggets, his fries and tried to start a savings account by securing a couple more nuggets.  He listened to our conversations and interjected well-appropriated responses.  Yesterday was a really long day, but his laughter and light hearted nature made him a joy to hang out with.

I love all my grandchildren and each one is special in their own kind of way.  Lately, I haven’t had the time to spend with them that I used to.  With the sale of the house and all the downsizing, plus the added financial woes, things have been strained.  It was so easy to hang out with him (though he slept through most of it) knowing that all this is wrapping up soon, and I am gaining extra time having less stuff to manage.  If minimalism adds all this laughter to my life, then I am ready to complete the downsizing, sell the house and not be so busy!

I wish I had the opportunity to do this earlier, but one thing is for sure when I’m done both my husband and I can enjoy our lives free of the chains of clutter and such a large house to maintain.  Today we have been working on it all day.  It feels good to let go.

My husband and I are working toward a life of simplicity. We have six children and twelve grand-kids. This August we will be expecting our first Great-grandchild. My husband works full time and as of now, I am a stay at home wife. Our big house is up for sale. We currently live in a travel trailer near my husband's work. We recently purchased land and are anxiously looking forward to moving, but there are a few hangups.

  1. Oh, what a cutie-pie! He looks a bit older than three. Little kids are so much fun to be around. Like you, I love all of my grandchildren, and indeed, they are all unique. I wish I could see them more often too. Thanks for sharing and I’m glad you had such a nice time 🙂
