White Noise

What pictures do your mind conjure up when you think about the word, resort?  I see pristine sandy beaches, reading books by the pool, and soaking in a luxurious hot tub.  A place where tranquility flows like it’s neighboring ocean is exactly where I want to be. What happens when our mind is out to breakfast or tricks us into believing a perfect vacation exists.  Oh, I’m sure we would characterize one that goes well as perfect, but it really means the good outweighed the bad.   Perfect vacations are a fantasy.  Right now if I step out onto my balcony in Florida I will hear about a hundred screaming children.  I just left a beautiful spa where a woman there had never heard of headphones.  A very overworked spa staff never made it to our corner, to correct her as I struggled to read my book.  A talk show continued to boom from her phone and drove me to my back to my peaceful room.

We all struggle to find our “White Noise” the sounds of peace.  They could be rain drops, waves hitting the shore or a raging thunderstorm.  What we each categorize as white noise is different for all of us.  A TV show may be yours.  Today the noise I was seeking was the sweet sound of spa music playing softly in the background.  Whatever your white noise is, go out there and find it.  This world has become entirely too noisy and silence is slipping through the cracks.  I hope to k our tiny home in a place where white noise is at a premium.  Earlier today when my husband and I swam in the spa pool, it was quiet.  We went off to a little corner and talked about our dreams for this move.  All the things we want to accomplish.  A reasonable time table was chosen and we plan to begin right away after the conference ends.

Whatever your white noise is, I hope you find a little bit of it while we finish our vacation in sunny Florida.  Discuss your dreams and what you want out of life with your loved ones.  It’s never too late to take a different path than where you’re headed.  Maybe you’re living your dream now.  Whether that dream is minimizing, living in a tiny home, or sprawled out on several acres I pray you achieve it.  Take care and enjoy the balance of your week!

My husband and I are working toward a life of simplicity. We have six children and twelve grand-kids. This August we will be expecting our first Great-grandchild. My husband works full time and as of now, I am a stay at home wife. Our big house is up for sale. We currently live in a travel trailer near my husband's work. We recently purchased land and are anxiously looking forward to moving, but there are a few hangups.
